Review Day: Primal Turkey Liver Freeze Dried Treats

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

Today we have a review of Chewy.Com's Primal Freeze Dried Turkey Liver Munchies for Dogs & Cats, the Primal line of dog\cat and dog treats come in many flavors, this mouth we're reviewing the Turkey Liver Muchies. I'll be the first to say that Anya LOVED these, Saphira thought they were okay, and Star wasn't too pleased sadly. These treats are $5.89 dollars, they are a 2 oz bag but the treats come in massive size, so you can easily break them up with your fingers or a knife, since Anya went crazy for these I will definitely be buying them again. These treats are made of turkey that has not been given antibiotics or growth hormones, ew! We have chickens (both roosters and hens), chicks, and ducks, we do not give them either one of those ever!! Would you rather eat a 6 month old healthy chicken without antibiotics\growth hormones or a 6 week old sick chicken with antibiotics\growth hormones that are not natural and mess up their growth? Your choice. Moving on...

I forgot to take better pictures, but here's the scoop.

 ~ Mmm. ~

Pros:

* Great customer service (as always)

* Great shipping

* Anya and Saphira love them

* Not treat with antibiotics\growth hormones

* Good price

* Easy to break up

* Made in the USA

Cons:

* Smelly

* Star did not like them

* Leaves a greasy oil on your fingers

Weekly Ragdoll: Why I Stopped Using Crystal Cat Litter

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

I am really loving my new idea of Weekly Ragdoll! This post is about why I stopped using crystal cat litter and the dangers of it...

Crystal cat litter or silica gel litter, is non- clumping, and an expensive litter; expect to pay anywhere from $10 - $13 dollars for a 5lb bag. The brand of crystal litter we used was Mimi, $3 dollars for a 4lb bag, it came from Wal-mart and was made in China (one of the reasons why we stopped using it). I know of no brand of crystal litter that is made in the USA, all are made in China. Crystal litter has been associated with asthma in humans and cats, urinary issues in cats, lung cancer in both cats and humans, lung failure in cats, renal (kidney) issues in cats, birth defects in pregnant cats, and poisoning in young kittens who may eat the litter out of general curiosity, and more!!

Creators of crystal cat litters claim that their litters are non-toxic. Such is not the case. I was reading an article about this family who put their cat down after $4,000 dollars of trying to fix their poisoned cat.

I love crystal litter, but due to health concerns for me and my cats, I probably will not use again.

The -**Hopefully**-My- Kitten's Father Pictures

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

Here are some pictures of the kitten's father that is **hopefully** going to be mine. Her father is 9 months old and was born on the same day as Nico and Anya's father! July 16th, 2005 for Nico and Anya's dad, and July 16th, 2014 for the kitten's dad. Creepy...

The dad is Prince Charming, a male Blue Colorpoint. He comes from amazing lines!! Filled with Champion, Grand Champion, Outstanding Sires\Dams, etc! He is amazing looking and quite handsome ;-)

He is only 6 months old in these photos and weighed 10lbs.

And, now he is 9 months old and weighs almost 14lbs! He will probably be bigger than Nico was. Wow!

Credits to the kitten's breeder for use of Prince Charming's photos.

No, I don't mean the book (never read it and don't plan on it either! lol), I meant my cat. I did this editing effect called "splash" and left everything gray but her natural eye color. Love it!

Weekly Ragdoll: Litter Box Liners -- Anybody Use 'Em?

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

Weekly Ragdoll  is a new weekly post on Life with Ragdolls about cat products, health, care, toys, food, litter, etc. Sounds ideal to me! These will be hosted ever Tuesday (unless I have a review or something pops up, then they will be moved to Thursday). This week is about cat litter box liners.

Take notice: all Weekly Ragdoll posts are based on the opinion of the author. It should also be noted that the author has had experience with over 90% of the products or issues covered on Weekly Ragdoll posts. If the author has not had any experience with the product or issues then it will be noted at the BOTTOM of the post. All opinions are based on the authors experience with said product or issue, author is NOT paid for any of the Weekly Ragdoll posts. Photos that are not the author's will have "credits to (person's name or company) for use of any and all photo(s).

When I got Nico and Anya in July 2012, I shortly found out that their old owner had been using litter box liners in their litter boxes. I had never seen or heard of a thing called "litter liners" before. Nico and Anya being front declawed cats did not rip the plastic liners with their claws when they would dig in the litter box, but the weight of the litter in the box often caused the liner to tear teeny tiny holes so the litter would spill out when it was time to change the litter boxes. I found this out the hard way one afternoon while changing the litter boxes, when it was time to take the liner with litter out to the trash (you had to walk through the kitchen to get to the back door out to the carport then to the trash can) the liner tore and litter went everywhere in the kitchen! YUCK!

Shortly there after I started carrying the liner with the litter boxes to the trash can outside to be dumped until we ran out of liners. After we ran out of litter liners we did not buy them again. I might start using them again because my 3 are now using pellet litter made of pine. The sole purpose of litter box liners is for the cat owner to simply take of the lid (if the litter box has a hood or lid on it) and remove the liner with dirty litter and throw it in the trash. Easy peasy or it is for the owner at least -- many cats hate litter liners (Star is one of them), but many cats do not mind them (Anya and Saphira are two of them), as far as I know both Nico and Anya had used them all their life (except when they lived with me).

Pros:

* Easy to use; if you know how to properly use them).

* Cheap.

* Great for traveling and easy pick up.

Cons:

* Tears easily.

* Some cats dislike them.

* Shouldn't use with crystal litter.

* Can't use in self cleaning litter boxes.

* Pain to use with clumping litter.

* Cat litter scoop snags on liners and tears them.

Worth it? No.

Have used? Yes.

Bought after Nico and Anya? Yes.

Would use again? Probably not, unless traveling with kitty.

Angie -- the Seal Colorpoint mom of the kitten, Angie is the same color x pattern combo as Tadpole was, only female and younger. Please understand that Angie only looks, shall we say less like herself, because all female cats nursing do not look nearly as good as spayed females do.

An End Has a Start......

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

I think people are wanting to know what I had in store for them today, well it is *hopefully* going to be about a new Ragdoll kitten. The kitten was born 4-7-2015 or 4-8-2015? (the breeder was not home at the time of birth). Since both parents are Colorpoint, the kitten is also Colorpoint (a Colorpoint x Colorpoint will only produce more Colorpoints), so the kitten will either be a Seal Colorpoint (fingers crossed!) or a Blue Colorpoint, the mom is a Seal Colorpoint (Champion Ragdoll) and the dad is a Blue Colorpoint. Dad is Prince Charming and was born 7-16-2014, the mom is Angie and was born 12-26-2008, the dad's date of birth is the same day of Nico and Anya's father (7-16-2005), the day Nico was cremated. That makes me sad, because Nico was cremated on the same day of this kitten's father's birthday. Nico was also cremated on his and Anya's father's birthday. Hmm....

By the way, the kitten is a female with no siblings. I need to wait at least 8 more weeks to be sure of her quality. The breeder said she'd text weekly pictures of her. I am already falling in love with this cat and she's only 5 - 4 days old, without me or the breeder knowing her color (all Ragdolls are born completely white and gain their color at 1-2 weeks of age) but I already know her pattern because of genetics, Colorpoint. I am hoping she will be mine to call my own :-)

My two beautiful babies. Anya my Blue Mitted female (left) and Nico my Blue Bicolor male (right) RIP Nico.

A Star and Saphira Update

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since Star or Saphira came on the blog, but especially Star! Unfortunately, Star drank bleech not too long ago. But never fear, Star-Wars (Star) is here! She has been a lot better since then, her tongue had black spots on it, and she was really ill, but recovered in my care.

No, Starry is just sleeping.
Saphira is well, but excited for that "announcement" on 4-12-2015. ;-)
