Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Nico: 2008 - 2014

Nico was the love of my life. He taught me about love and he continued to give me hope when I wanted to quit during the hardest times. Despite being in pain, Nico continued to pull through during his last day of life -- just for me. Because I was too scared to let him go. He advocated me about HCM and now I am on a mission to find a cure and to alert others about this disease so his life did not end in vain.

Renato: 2014 - 2014

Renato was my 'second' chance with Nico after Nico died. They were so much alike it was almost scary. Sadly, Renato was never meant to be. Renato taught me that life is not to be wasted by doing things you do not want to live for.

Tadpole: 1990 - 2005

Tadpole was the one that started me as a Ragdoll owner. He was even my very first cat, he taught me how to readily make friends and enjoy things while they are in the moment.

Midnight: 2015 - 2015

My beautiful female halfmoon betta fish called Midnight, passed away recently. I had her before Zayd ( I got her on 6-17-2015) and she passed away on 8-12-2015. She taught me how to be relaxed and live for what is, not what was ( I really needed that lesson back then! ).

Metallica: 2015 - 2015

My handsome male twin tail halfmoon betta fish called Metallica (like the band) was my second male after Greeve died.He taught me to look on the inside of things. Sadly, I have no pictures of him.

Greeve: 2015 - 2015

Greeve was purchased with Midnight, I had him for almost a week before he died of ick. He taught me about being careful with life. Greeve was a twin tail halfmoon male betta.

Note: Please do not buy betta fish from petsmart! I bought 3 bettas from 2 locations and they all died of ick!

What has your animals taught you?

If You Failed...at Least You Tried

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

Below is a quick story about last weekend...

Anya's vaccines are due. Keep in mind that Ragdoll cats are very sensitive to the feline leukemia vaccine, the feline infectious peritonitis vaccine to just name a few. Therefore, I only give them 4 vaccines (rabies, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia. This also applies to Star and Saphira even though they are not Ragdolls).

I went to Tractor Supplies to purchase Anya her 3 way vaccine (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia), it was the injectable vaccine. I went home and gave it to her just under the scruff of her neck. Needless to say...I did not stick the needle in far enough, so the vaccine leaked everywhere. Ew and ugh! The next day I went back to Tractor Supplies again to purchase Anya yet another set of vaccines, only this time it was a intranasal vaccine. I succeed this time with her vaccine. She receives her other set on 8-22-2018. I only give my cats their 3 ways once every 3 years. Why? because this is what my vet suggested and after I weighted all the options and did a lot of research on cat vaccines and cat health in general and taking into consideration how much my cats actually spend outside (which is very low), I have decided to follow my gut and my vet's advice and only vaccinate once every 3 years (that includes the rabies vaccine since I have my vet give them a 3 year one). Plus, I have come to face the fact that Star and Saphira are getting old -- next year they will both be seniors (so sad, I know, but this is life). Vaccinating older cats puts hem at a higher risk of cancer at the injection site (which is why I am now giving intranasal) and it also puts them at risk for kidney problems associated with old age. I, myself, haven't received any type of vaccine in almost 6 years. I am young and healthy. I do not consider most vaccines necessary for me or my cats.

Anya was not harmed in the making of this!

Please note: We do not need any lectures from the public about vaccinating animals myself at home. I have done my research and I have spoken to my vet about this (and even another vet) about vaccinating animals at home, both vets showed me how to PROPERLY vaccinate felines. Thank you.

My 5 Month Old Baby!

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,

Today Zayd is 5 months old. Yay! That means he has outlived Renato. I miss Renato, but I am glad Zayd is still alive (and healthy).

On Saturday, I took Zayd with me to Falling Waters, State Park. The tallest waterfall in Florida. Well, so much for water. It had no water. I have seen it with not a trace of water (such as on Saturday), and with gushing water, like when I brought Anya with me to there after she had a vet appointment in 2013, and sometimes it even just drips.

Zayd being held over the 'waterfall' of Falling Waters, State Park.

Zayd: "Is she gonna drop me?"

He loved looking at the sun shinning down the 'waterfall'.

This was yesterday. My baby boy is already getting his adult teeth in! Look at his two bottom canines. So sad. If you look closely, you can even see his adult top canines starting to come through his gums. He also weighs 12lbs! :-)

Review Day: Catit Bench Cat Scratcher from Chewy.com

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the delay in having some blog posts put out for this week. I have been way too busy starting a new website for my Ragdoll cat cattery -- but don't fret....Life with Ragdolls will still be an active site. :)

I was given another great opportunity to work with Chewy.com to bring you our latest review -- the Catit Bench Scratcher with Catnip. This scratcher is available for $7.99, the whole thing is essentially made of cardboard. It measures exactly 19 inches, it is capable of seating a 10lb adult cat like Saphira, but my two Ragdolls who weigh 13lbs (Anya) and 12lbs (Zayd) just won't fit on it too well, it is too short for Anya to lay acrossed and she is just too heavy for it. Ragdolls are BIG cats. Twice the size of those little tiny regular cats like Saphira. Star is even too heavy and long for this scratcher. Star is not very tall, she is short and muscular and weighs about 12lbs. If you have a little cat or kitten in between the weight of 1 - 10lbs you should be okay with buying one of these, but it is a hit or miss with a large cat like a Ragdoll, Maine Coon, Ragamuffin, etc. For whatever reason I am unaware of is that Zayd will not get on this scratcher and he doesn't really like it much either. My three girls, however, love this thing, especially Star and Anya. In fact they like it so much that it often results in a fight over 'who- gets- what' kind of thing, in the end it is typically Star who wins since she is the one with claws, but sometimes she is nice and gives Anya a turn. :)

Catit Bench Cat Scratcher arrival.

This pattern is on both sides.

Star is a f*cking wolverine!! She did this to it within 2 minutes. :)

Now that I have put it here out of the middle of the walk way, Star won't use it, haha.

Anya is too big for this little 'bench'.

Pros:

* The girls love it.

* Sturdy.

* Came with catnip.

* Fast shipping.

* Great customer service (as always).

* Good priced.

* Great travel scratching post.

Cons:

* Zayd doesn't like it.

* Not ideal for cats over 10lbs such as Ragdolls.

* Sometimes it tips over.

* Slides on floor.

* The catnip it came with went all over the floor when I put it on the scratcher, it leaked through the littles cardboard holes in it.

Happy Birthday to The Founders of Life with Ragdolls!!

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Today is August 14th, 2015. But you already know that, well, did you know that today is Nico and Anya's 7th birthday? That's right. Anya is 7 years old and Nico would have been 7 years old too. Too bad poor Nico passed away 1.1 years ago from heart problems, but Anya outlived Nico and Renato (which is why I registered her name as GA Southern Dolls Lone Survivor), and today she is 7 years old.

Happy 7th Birthday  to Nico and Anya!! Nico lived from August 14, 2008 - July 14, 2014. Anya from August 14, 2008 and beyond!!
Happy Birthday, my babies!

~ Rest in Peace, Nico ~

Happy 7 years old to you, Anya!

One in a Million: Happy 9th Birthday, Star!!

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Happy 9th Birthday, Star!
I cannot believe that my baby girl is already 9 years old! That's only 53 in cat years. But age is just a number, and she's still got a lot of fight left in her. :-) You are a true friend, Fluffers. I hope Star and I can celebrate a MIllION more! Star was born August 4, 2006. I still can't believe 2006 was 9 years ago.

Hugs & kisses to you always, Star!

Review Day: TidyCats 24\7 Performance Clumping Cat Litter from Chewy.Com

All Photo and Text Copyright Life with Ragdolls 2013~2015

Hi Everyone,
 Happy 1st day of August! 2015 is really flying by!

Today is a review from Chewy.com that was suppose to be wrote last month, but due to work, cats, chores, and studying, it just doesn't happen often enough ;-( On the bright side of town, we're reviewing the TidyCats 24\7 Performance Clumping Cat Litter (14lbs) from Chewy.com. TidyCats has been a long time friend of the litter boxes at our house for many years, I used TidyCats clumping and non-clumping litters with Star and Saphira when I got them, Nico and Anya were using TidyCats litter before I got them and even for a short while while they were settling in, surrounding the short time I had with Renato, I used TidyCats, Zayd has even used TidyCats before! So you could say that TidyCats is a good and well trusted brand in our home, true, but not all cat litters are created equally. TidyCats is now not used much with my cats, I love using TidyCats for traveling; it's cheap, you can buy it pretty much anywhere (I have even found it at gas stations before), it's a good disposable cat litter and it is very cost efficient; the 14lbs we reviewed is $10.48, 20lbs is $9.99, 27lbs is $10.99, 40lbs is $16.99, and 35lbs is $12.99. Why is the 20lb one less money than the 14lb one is out of the question to me. The more 'traditional' TidyCats litter is much more compatible with me and my cats usage. TidyCats Non-Clumping Instant Action Immediate Odor Control Cat Litter is my favorite of their lines, we shop a lot at SAM's Club, and typically I can get this litter for as low as $10.50 for a 50lb bag. Now that's a deal!!

TidyCats 24\7 Performance Clumping Cat Litter is great at controlling urine oder, but not from poop. It is less dusty than TidyCats' other litters, but it is not even compatible compared to Arm & Hammer's Feline Pine Non-Clumping Pellet litter (this is what we're using now and it is my all time favorite litter), it has literally no dust and very little tracking. Since 3 out of 4 of my cats are longhaired, this litter tracks a bit, even from Saphira's paws and she is a shorthair. I call it the 'ball litter', because the clay is little and round and rolls like a toy ball.

Sorry for such blurry photos, it was raining out.

Pros:

* All the cats like and will use this litter.

* Low dust, but horrible smell that you can 'taste' that hangs in the air.

* Comes in 5 options of weigh.

* Fast shipping.

* Great customer service (as always!).

* Decent pricing.

Cons:

* Horrible litter scent. You can taste it. Yuck.

* Isn't the best at controlling feces odors.

* Doesn't last too long. My Feline Pine lasts 2-4 weeks with my 4 cats, this litter lasted 2-5 days (yes, days!). But I do still have about half the bag left.
