Remembering Nico: 2 Years Ago

Just 3 words: I miss you.

2 years ago, I had to say goodbye to our sweet Nico. You are loved from the start to the bottom of my heart. You were taken too soon, too young, too suddenly. Nothing could of been as strong as you fighting that illness, weak on the outside but fighting on the inside.


Nico was one hell of a cat, from the beginning I knew he was different. He was always more brave than he appeared. In 2013, a stray dog came on our property (we live out in the country) and the dog had killed 2 of our chickens, had severely injured one and the next day the dog came back to try and finish off our remaining two, Nico (being the bad ass cat that he was) bolted out the door when I opened it to chase away the dog, before I could chase it away, Nico had already given chase! The dog never returned. Nico was awarded by us 'Best Chicken Flock Protector' of the year, haha.

Nico would play fetch like a dog, only he was better than one. He would chase ice cubes down the hall. He would walk on a harness and leash at parks and amused many strangers with his antics. But most of all, he was loved beyond measure. Rest in peace, Nico.
